Michelle Edwards

It is with great pleasure that TTRNA extends heartfelt congratulations to Michelle Edwards-Benjamin on her appointment as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA). Mrs Benjamin’s appointment is noteworthy as she has assiduously moved up the ranks as a Registered Nurse in the TRHA to her substantive post as Secondary Care Nurse Manager and now acting CEO.

TTRNA recognizes this achievement as exemplary and outstanding as it embodies the thrust of ICN’s NURSING NOW campaign, which recognizes nurses as the heartbeat of healthcare. “Nursing Now aims to improve health globally by raising the profile and status of nurses worldwide – influencing policymakers and supporting nurses themselves to lead, learn and build a global movement.” ...taken from NURSING NOW Vision.https://www.nursingnow.org/vision/

Having identified the need for this campaign ICN has stated:

Nurses are at the heart of most health teams – they support and supervise community health workers and link to more specialised care when needed.

But they could be doing so much more – studies have shown that when nurses are trained and given greater scope to expand their roles, they deliver impressive results for patients.

Maximising this potential will be vital to achieving the goal of Universal Health Coverage, making sure everyone, everywhere has access to quality essential healthcare services, a fundamental human right.

We look forward to a continued good relationship with Mrs Benjamin as she builds and strengthens healthcare in the TRHA through nursing excellence and wish her all the best in her new position.
