The Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association (TTRNA) and the Trinidad and Tobago Healthcare UK Forum (TTHUF), signed a new Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) on Tuesday 12 June 2019, in San Fernando, Trinidad. Before signing, the SPA was being operated in shadow form since April 2019.
The agreement sets out how both organisations will work together to improve the quality of healthcare in #TrinidadandTobago.
TTHUF was established in June 2017 and became a Registered Charity in England in June 2019. TTHUF’s purpose is the relief of sickness and the preservation of health in Trinidad and Tobago, the Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries.
The formal agreement between both organisations is underpinned by the following principles:
• Working in collaboration with each other will enhance patient outcomes.
• Both organisations will have mutual respect for each other.
In line with these principles, the SPA confirms that information would be shared between both organisations, which would be used to analyse current healthcare trends.
The SPA recognises that there is a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, for the promotion of trade and investment in the healthcare sector of Trinidad and Tobago.
In addition to ongoing liaison between the two organisations, quarterly engagement meetings will take place to discuss arising themes around the safety of healthcare and how both organisations can continue to co-operate to promote the safety and welfare of patients.
The agreement will be regularly reviewed to make sure it is relevant, up to date and effective.
